Dr. Ali FAHMI

Aly Aly Fahmy is a prominent Egyptian academic specializing in artificial intelligence and machine learning. He is currently the Dean of the Artificial Intelligence College at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology. Previously, he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information at Cairo University. Dr. Fahmy earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from the National Superior School E.N.S.A.E in Toulouse, France, in 1976 and 1979, respectively.

His career bridges both academia and industry, including specialized training in expert systems development in Germany and large-scale software systems in the United States. Dr. Fahmy was the Director of Egypt’s first Center of Excellence in Data Mining and Computer Modeling (DMCM) from 2005 to 2010 and played a key role in founding the Center for Arabic Language Technologies (ALTEC). His research interests include medical machine learning, data and text mining, computational linguistics, automatic essay scoring, and Arabic man–machine interface technologies.

He is also involved in establishing the Arabic Center of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence and Frontier Technologies in New El-Alamein City.
