Mr. Wael EZZAT

Wael Ezzat is the Head of Public Policy for North Africa at TikTok, where he leads the
platform’s strategic engagement with government entities, regulatory bodies, non-governmental
organizations, and national and educational institutions across the region.

With over 20 years of experience spanning both the public and private sectors, Wael brings
extensive expertise in technology and public policy including telecommunications regulation,
digital services, artificial intelligence, data protection, cybersecurity, and digital economy
frameworks. He has a proven track record in building and activating strategic partnerships that
foster technological innovation and keep pace with the region’s rapid digital transformation.

Before joining TikTok, Wael served as the Head of Internet Services at Egypt’s National
Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and was a member of the Licensing
Committees of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR), where he contributed to
shaping national policies on digital media and online content governance.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Cairo University and has participated in several
international initiatives focused on technological cooperation, including the “Digital Silk Road”
initiative between Egypt and China, reflecting his continued commitment to strengthening
regional and global digital collaboration.
