Dr. Toumi BOUCHENTOUF

Dr. Toumi Bouchentouf has been a professor at the National School of Applied Sciences of Oujda (ENSAO) at Mohammed Premier University in Morocco (UMP) since 2003.

After obtaining his PhD in automation and industrial computing at the Ecole Centrale de Nantes in France in 1991 and working for several IT companies as an application developer and project manager, he taught software quality, advanced databases, and advanced algorithms at ENSAO. He currently teaches agile methods, machine learning, and deep learning. He is head of the computer engineering department at ENSAO.

He is a member of the LARSA research laboratory and supervises several theses in the field of AI and medicine, in particular question/answering problems related to the biomedical field and AI and drones, with a focus on optimizing the tasks of an autonomous drone, such as planning or energy minimization. He has also been responsible for the Maison de l'Intelligence Artificielle (MIA) at UMP since 2020.

The MIA is a franchise of the MIA in Nice Sophia Antipolis, France, whose mission is to promote AI literacy and applied research in ethical, human-centered AI. In addition, he is part of the management team of the Student-Entrepreneur program funded by the Oriental Region Council of Morocco to promote the creation of startups. He has supervised several theses in the areas of software quality, automatic language processing, and computer vision, and has also co-supervised a thesis in the ethics of intelligent systems with Professor Saida Belouali entitled Code of Ethics for the Use of Artificial Intelligence: The Case of Morocco in 2024.
